MAPEI UNIVERSAL RENDER BASE COAT 5KG

Universal primer for thin-layer plasters (acrylic, silicate, silicone, elastomeric) used as a base layer of the surface before applying the finishing layer. It evens out the absorbency of the substrate, increases the adhesion of paint or plaster to the substrate and facilitates the application of the plaster.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION

• Primer for new, seasoned mineral substrates, applied before applying thin-layer plasters.
• Primer for old, well-adhesive mineral and resin plasters and old primer coatings, before applying plasters from the MAPEI offer.
• Primer for well-adhesive, non-chalking paint coatings or old primer coatings, before applying paints from the MAPEI offer.
• A primer colored in the color of the final coating, improving the coverage of paints or plasters in intense, transparent or only partially opaque shades.
• The use of Universal Base Coat makes it easier to obtain an even surface color, especially in the case of fine-grained plasters and "bark beetle" textures. Applied in white or in a color similar to the finishing layer, it supports the process of obtaining a uniform color, which is especially helpful when the colors applied differ from the color of the substrate surface.

The micro-filler contained in the Universal Base Coat primer facilitates the leveling of minor surface irregularities, facilitates the adhesion of the plaster to the substrate at the stage of product application, and strengthens the bond between the plaster and the substrate.

TECHNICAL PROPERTIES
Universal Base Coat is a primer based on resins in water dispersion, quartz and micro-fillers, as well as additives that increase resistance to fungi and algae (Bioblock technology). After application, it evens out the absorbency of the substrate and strengthens the adhesion of paint coatings and thin-layer plasters.

Surfaces covered with Universal Base Coat become evenly rough, which facilitates the application of plaster masses and their even distribution over the entire surface.

RECOMMENDATIONS

• Intended for use on walls and ceilings.
• Apply only to dry and seasoned substrates.
• Use on mineral or resin plasters and putties.
• Apply at temperatures from +5°C to +35°C.
• Apply at relative air humidity below 85%.
• Do not use during rain, strong wind or on facades exposed to direct sunlight, use protective nets.

Substrate preparation

The substrate intended for applying Universal Base Coat should be bonded, strong, clean and dry. The surface should be even and free from dust, oils, paints with low adhesion, etc. It is recommended to wash old coatings with water. Fresh plasters or putties should be completely set and seasoned. Level unevenness with Mapetherm mortars and fill small cracks with Mapei Mapeflex AC4.

Product preparation

Universal Base Coat is a ready-to-use product, it can be diluted up to 5% with clean water. Mix before use using a slow-speed mixer.

Consumption: 0.2 ÷ 0.3 kg/m2 per layer (usually one layer is enough).
